Our Ambition
Tata Group will aspire for global sustainability leadership in the sectors in which it operates.
The Tata Sustainability Policy
The Tata group sustainability policy articulates how Tata companies create long-term
stakeholder value by integrating economic, environmental and social considerations. The
policy will help Tata companies integrate sustainability considerations into all decisions and
key work processes, mitigating future risks and maximising opportunities. It embodies the
principles of product stewardship by enhancing health, safety, environmental and social
impacts of products and services across their lifecycles. Further, under the policy, Tata
companies commit to aspire to global sustainability leadership in the sectors they operate
in by constituting a governance structure to oversee sustainability endeavours. The
governance process, under the aegis of the Boards, identifies relevant sustainability issues
and develops comprehensive sustainability strategies with goals, targets, mitigation and
adaptation action plans.

Thrust Areas
The thrust areas form the common minimum sustainability agenda at the group level. Considering the size of the group and the varied industry verticals of presence, it is no surprise that even the common minimum agenda comprises 15 issues.
While the Tata Sustainability Group spearheads most sustainability issues at the group-level, employee safety and diversity & inclusion at the workplace are led by specialized teams at the Group center.
Policy
Employee Health & Safety
“Employee Safety” is driven by the Group Safety team, which works with companies across the group to ensure the implementation of the Tata Group Safety and Health Policy. The policy encourages Tata companies to become sectoral world leaders on safety and health indicators

Diversity & Inclusion
The subject of “Diversity and Inclusion” is driven across the group by the Group HR team. Tata LEAD is our Diversity and Inclusion program that engages our talent and our Group companies on initiatives to strengthen D&I and foster an inclusive culture. We strive to create a work environment where all employees can develop and grow to achieve their full potential
Sustainability Governance at the Tata Group
Guiding the achievement of our ambition is the Tata Group Sustainability Council (TGSC) - the apex governance body that comprises of CEOs of large Tata companies and is chaired by Group Chief Sustainability Officer. The TGSC provides strategic direction and priority needed for Tata companies to be amongst the global leaders in sustainability. Reporting to the TGSC are the Sustainability Working Committees (SWCs) which are comprised of Chief

Advocacy & Memberships
The Tata group is a member of several global initiatives and networks that create increased public and policy discourse on specific issues such as climate change, social and natural capital valuations, the SDGs and carbon pricing, and volunteering, for example. Such formal networks and memberships continue to provide important opportunities to promote the sustainability agenda and channel action linked to group wide policy and practices. In addition, Tata group's decentralized structure creates great potential to build engagement through
these advocacy efforts; inspiring people to support collective action in their own companies and driving change through campaigning,
knowledge sharing and leadership efforts to improve the lives of many. The Tata group is influencing global and national sustainability
policy and practice through:
Interactions with government bodies e.g. High-Level Committee of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on the CSR Clause, National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business, Policy
dialogue for Energy Efficient India 2030, Member of NDMA's Disaster Recovery Committee, Member of FICCI and CII.
Membership and participation in global coalitions such as We Mean Business, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Energy Transitions Commission, Global CCS Institute, World Bank's Carbon Pricing
Leadership Coalition, WEF's Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, Natural Capital Coalition and International Association
for Volunteer Effort (IAVE).
